Abstract

Title:EQUALITY POLICIES AND RECONCILING WORK AND FAMILY LIFE FOR WOMEN IN SLOVENIA
Abstract:
Key issue the research is dealing with is double burden of women in modern world, caused by family and work obligations, at the same time. This brings some of the negative consequences for women who struggle to reconcile their work and family life, which can be noticed as a thread to their well being. The purpose is to eliminate mentioned consequences, in order to achive higher level of gender equality. On the basis of theory and the conducted survey research, we have proved, that women are really double burdened. Reasons can mainly be found in women's full-time employment, as well as in the unbalanced divison of roles between partners in family life. Negativities of this condition are stress, tiredness and nervousness. At this point, we emphasize the need to eliminate those negativities, by proposed improvements and other actions. We have ascertained that the state still does not provide actual gender equality in everyday life, in terms of the reconciliation of work and family life. This is why some further research is required. For practice in the public sector this means the urge of implementation of certain public policies that will protect women and relieve them in a way, which eases their family and work life reconciliation. Therefore, main purpose is to eliminate negative consequences seen in women's health, which can result into less sick leaves etc., which is positive for the state and its economics. Discussed topic also intervenes in the sphere of social relations, by tending to achieve the goal of providing higher level of gender equality in the society as well as less subordinations of women, arising from their autonomy.
