Abstract

Abstract:
Work–life balance is a challenge that every employee faces, but particularly those who have families. To successfully balance work and life, an individual needs help from his company and state in addition to help of his or her family. It is predominantly the companies which should be aware of the importance of work–life balance. Those companies that want to be successful have to focus on increasing the employee workplace satisfaction level; they have to be aware of the fact that satisfied employees are important for achieving company goals. The purpose of the research was to study the connection between work–life balance and employee satisfaction, and to ascertain how work–life balance influences employee satisfaction. The survey method was used to conduct the research. The link to the questionnaire was publicly posted on the Facebook social network. Snowballing method was used. The research results showed low level of connection between the variables of work–life balance and employee satisfaction, however it was not possible to prove a positive effect on employee satisfaction. The research also establishes that work–life balance presents a challenge to employed parents, especially when organising childcare and that women still spend more time on housework than men. The state and companies should implement additional measures to further stimulate the equality of men and women in the area of work-life balance.
