Frank Zappa - rock ikona ali skladatelj umetniške glasbe : iskanje rešitev s pomočjo analize skladbe Be-Bop Tango

V diplomskem delu so predstavljene značilnosti kompozicij skladatelja Franka Zappe in postavljene pod vprašaj umetniške vrednosti. Skozi poglavja so prikazane splošne problematike med ločitvami umetniške in popularne glasbe našega časa, značilnosti modernizma in postmodernizma ter iskanje vzporednic z opisanimi smernicami v glasbi Franka Zappe. Analiza skladbe Be-Bop Tango skuša prikazati, da skladatelj ne spada le med rock glasbenike, temveč tudi med skladatelje umetniške glasbe, vredne pozornosti.

Abstract

The thesis discusses about compositional characteristics of composer Frank Zappa and looks for artistic elements in it. The problems with the distinction of art and popular music of our time, characteristics of modernism and postmodernism and the search of described guidelines in music of Frank Zappa are shown through the chapters. The analysis of the composition Be-Bop Tango shows us that the composer is not just a rock musician, but also a composer of art music, which is worth of our attention.
