The purpose of the master's thesis is to determine the development of competitive results in World Cups, European championships, World championships and the Olympic Games in men's artistic gymnastics in the period 2012-2016. The analysis of the results includes medal winners in the team, all-around and individual apparatus competition at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and active Slovenian artistic gymnasts in the period 2012-2016. The development of the competitive result is reflected in four parts: the difficulty score, the execution score, the judge's deductions and the final score. The influence on the development of the competitive result is possible in the difficulty score and in the execution score. A good and reliable execution then affects the deductions from judges and, consequently, the final score. In men’s artistic gymnastics the final score is consisted out of two separate scores, the execution score and the difficulty score. Two charts were created for each gymnast. The first chart contains the difficulty scores, while the second graph contains the execution and the final score. Comparison of gymnasts was made based on the difficulty and the execution score. Further comparison was made on what kind of an approach gymnasts took, when they achieved these results at World Championships and at the Olympic Games. Through these results we can draw parallels which allows us to evaluate the competitive results development for specialists on one apparatus and gymnasts in all-around. When comparing difficulty scores and the execution scores of individual gymnasts, we can see the planning of the best sport preparedness for the most important competition of the year.
