Abstract

Abstract:
The present thesis tests the hypothesis that selling of Slovenian literary rights abroad is an unexploited area in a phase of development. The thesis reviews Slovenian copyright laws and other international agreements, pertaining to trade in copyright. It presents the results of a research realized with the help of a survey among five Slovenian publishing houses that sell their rights abroad. The results of the survey are explained with the help of a semistructured interview conducted with an expert in the field. The thesis highlights some of the problems publishers encounter when they sell rights abroad and at the end offers some suggestions for changes and improvements.
