The thesis presents the land administration system in Norway. In the first part of the thesis, some basic information about Norway and the historical background of the land cadastre is given. It is followed by the presentation of organisation as well as of competences of the state surveying and mapping agency. A special emphasis is given to the role of municipalities and private surveyors in the land administration system. The local communities and private land surveyors are important for the land cadastre by implementing cadastre procedures in the rural as well as urban areas. The final part is dedicated to the special Norwegian institution within the land administration system, i.e. Land Consolidation Court, competent for cadastral services in particular in the rural areas but several complex cadastre land rearrangement are provided by the Land Consolidation Court also in the urban areas.
