Ethics undoubtedly represents a crucial part of advocacy and every other legal profession. Lawyers are constantly dealing with the question, what is right and wrong. Every lawyer should have ethical grounds, on the basis of which realizes justice.
Ethics shall be the main principle of each lawyer and a complement to his legal knowledge and experiences. Furthermore, the ethical attitude is one of the primary elements reflecting a good lawyer. That is why each lawyer must be familiar with (and follow) general ethical rules, professional ethical principles and codes of professional conduct. The focus of the present thesis is on the professional lawyer's ethics and ethical challenges that appear in the work of Slovenian lawyers.
I will explore the hypothesis about the suitability of the Code of professional conduct for lawyers. Therefore my research will be guided by the question whether the present Code of professional conduct of the Bar Association of Slovenia represents an adequate regulation of legal ethics in Slovenia. While searching for the answer, various ethical lawyer's duties and their violations will be examined.
