Capacity factor Ns represents the relation between the height of overburden of the tunnel and the strength of rock or soil. It is used to evaluate the stability of the tunnel during the excavation. The main focus is in this diploma is the analysis of effects on the capacity factor Ns and the choice of supporting measures for tunnel construction. Furthermore, it enables us to estimate the technological sequence of the primary support. Kirsch’s analytical solution for the state of stress around the tunnel cavity was used to solve the interaction between the rock and the supporting elements during tunnel construction.
