Abstract

Title:POVERTY AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN SLOVENIA AND COMPARISON WITH GERMANY
Abstract:
In my thesis the problem of poverty and social exclusion amongst youth in Slovenia and Germany and a comparison of the economical finance position, unemployment amongst youth and actions of both governments against poverty is presented. Both concepts are tightly connected, that is why we have to consider both and present them together. Affected by economical and refugee crisis, poverty and social exclusion have become a bigger problem, that is why I will focus on a question whether or not young people are adequately included in the society and social events and what we can do to improve it. With different youth organizations both governments want to improve the current situation and especially help young people who are effected by poverty and social exclusion the most. The purpose of the thesis is that I myself get familiar with the current social position of youth and present poverty amongst that population in a different aspect, as we do not consider them and their social status enough. With the help of statistical data and literature, I wish to put in perspective how poverty and social exclusion has changed, if Slovenia is getting close to reaching Germany’s level of development, and if variety of acts has improved the current state in both countries. The goal of this thesis is to present concepts of poverty and social exclusion and to compare the situation of the youth in Slovenia and Germany. While comparing both countries’ conditions I have concluded that this subject is addressed in both, but the approach towards the solution of this problem is more active in Germany than it is in Slovenia. While writing the thesis different approaches towards poverty and social exclusion have been presented, which shows the improvement of the situation in both countries.
