Abstract
Najvišjo samopodobo imajo tekmovalci, nato rekreativci in nazadnje nešportniki. Tekmovalci imajo boljšo samopodobo v telesnem jazu, moralno-etičnem jazu, osebnostnem jazu, družinskem, socialnem, imajo višjo identiteto, s seboj so bolj zadovoljni, imajo boljše vedenje in večje samovrednotenje. V drugem cilju, so fantje dosegli boljše rezultate v telesnem jazu in osebnostnem.

Title:sport and self-image
Abstract:
The main purpose of my diploma thesis is to find connection between sport and self-image. I defined four goals. First relates on sports activity and self-image, second on self-image and gender, third relates on self-image and age, and fourth relates on self-image and the type of sports discipline. The research was made with the help of Manual of Tennessee self-concept scale, on five Slovenian secondary schools. These schools are gimnazija Šentvid, gimnazija Poljane, gimnazija Ledina, gimnazija Bežigrad and Šolski center Postojna. From all those schools 240 pupils were interviewed. For the first goal I concluded that differences between athletes, recreation enthusiasts and non-sportsmen exist. Athletes had the highest self-image, then followed recreation enthusiasts and non-sportsmen. Athletes had higher physical self-concept, moral, personal, family, social, identity, satisfaction, behavior and self-evaluation. Non-sportsmen had higher results at self-criticism, which means that non-sportsmen are more critical about themselves. The second goal showed that girls are more critical about themselves, so they had more points at self-criticism, boys had higher physical self-concept and higher personal self-concept. The third goal showed that younger students (age 15-16) have higher family self-concept compared to older students (age 18-19). The last goal showed, that there are no difference in self-image between athletes who train individual sport (count:65) and team sport (55). Which means that high self-image is not connected to a certain type of sports discipline.
