Vpliv dezinfekcijskih sredstev na obstojnost silikonskih obraznih protez : pregled literature

Abstract
Uvod: Obrazne proteze oziroma epiteze so proteze za nadomestitev delov tkiv obraza. Epiteza je dobro izdelana takrat, ko naključni opazovalec ne opazi protetične rekonstrukcije. Uspešnost izdelave je odvisna od natančnega načrtovanja in oblikovanja proteze, tehnike izdelave in materialov, iz katerih je izdelana. Najbolj znan material za izdelavo epitez je silikon, v katerega se z namenom spreminjanja lastnosti dodajajo različne snovi. Da bi preprečili infekcije okoliških tkiv, je nujno potrebna dezinfekcija epitez z dezinfekcijskimi sredstvi. Poslabšanje lastnosti protez se pripisuje predvsem izpostavljenosti le-teh UV svetlobi, onesnaženosti okolja, visoki vlagi, spremembam temperature in sredstvom za higieno. Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je raziskati vplive različnih dezinfekcijskih sredstev na lastnosti silikonskih epitez. Metode dela: Diplomsko delo temelji na deskriptivni opisni metodi s pregledom tuje literature na področju tematike. Rezultati: Za ocenjevanje smo uporabili raziskave, ki so vključevale silikon MDX 4-4210 z različnimi dodatki. Povzeli smo podatke o dezinfekciji in načinu pospešenega staranja ter opisali postopke, ki so jih v študijah uporabljali. V nadaljevanju smo predstavili podatke o vplivih različnih dezinfekcijskih sredstev: nevtralno milo, šumeče tablete in klorheksidin, na barvno obstojnost in trdoto silikona, ter izračunali povprečne vrednosti teh rezultatov. Najmanjšo spremembo barve so opazili pri silikonu z dodatkom Ba(SO)4 po dezinfekciji z nevtralno milno raztopino, največjo spremembo barve pa pri silikonu z dodatkom »make up« prahu po dezinfekciji z nevtralno milno raztopino. Najmanjšo trdoto silikona so imeli vzorci silikona z dodatkom TiO2 po dezinfekciji z nevtralno milno raztopino, največjo pa silikon z dodatkom keramičnega prahu po dezinfekciji z nevtralno milno raztopino in z dodatkom »make up« prahu po dezinfekciji s šumečimi tableti. Razprava in sklep: Dodatki v silikonu vplivajo na spremembe lastnosti silikona po dezinfekciji. Iz rezultatov primerjave vpliva treh dezinfekcijskih sredstev na silikone z različnimi dodatki smo ugotovili, da je pri dezinfekciji epitez potrebno dobro poznati silikonski material, iz katerega je izdelana, saj je od sestave (dodatkov) odvisno katero sredstvo je najbolj primerno za dezinfekcijo.

Title:Influence of disinfecting agents on stability of silicone facial prostheses : literature review
Abstract:
Introduction: The prostheses for replacing parts of the face are facial prostheses, also known as epitheses. It is considered they are well-designed when a random observer cannot notice anything that would indicate a prosthetic reconstruction. The success of the manufacturing of a prosthesis depends on precise planning and design, manufacturing techniques and the materials from which the prosthesis is made. Silicone is the most known material for manufacture of facial prostheses. By adding different supplements into the silicone, we can improve its properties. Appropriate hygiene is the key to prevent infections of surrounding tissues. The main reasons for the deterioration of epithesis properties are the exposure to UV light, environmental pollution, high humidity, temperature changes and hygiene products. Purpose: The aim of the thesis is to investigate the effects of various disinfectants on the properties of silicone epitheses. Methods: The thesis is based on a descriptive research of the literature and offers a review of the literature in the field of subject matter. Results: The smallest colour change was noticed in studies that involved silicon MDX 4-4210 with various supplements. Data about the disinfection and accelerated ageing were summarized. After description of the procedures used, the data on the effects of various disinfectants: neutral soap, effervescent tablets and chlorhexidine on the colour stability and hardness of silicone was presented. Average values for these results were calculated. We have found that the smallest colour change was noticed on the silicone with the addition of Ba(SO)4 after disinfection with neutral soap solution, while the greatest colour change was noticed on the material with the addition of »makeup« after disinfection with neutral soap solution. The lowest hardness of silicone was found in samples of silicone with the addition of TiO2 after disinfection with neutral soap solution, while the highest hardness was measured on silicone with the addition of ceramic dust after disinfection with neutral soap and with the addition of »makeup« dust after disinfection with effervescent tablets. Discussion and conclusion: The supplements have an influence on silicone, which was shown after the change of characteristic of silicon after disinfection. Based on the results, we may conclude that in order to choose the most appropriate disinfectant product it is necessary to know the properties of material and the supplements in silicone.
