The purpose of the diploma thesis is to investigate the possibility of setting up a smaller BGP (biogas plant) at farm Pušnik and to assess its biogas potential. Family farm Pušnik deals with pig breeding, potato and cabbage production and other crops. There is a lot of organic waste on the farm (pig manure/slurry, waste fodder, waste potatoes, cabbage ...). Such waste causes a major environmental problem. As a result, many methane and other greenhouse gases are released in the atmosphere. However, the construction of biogas plants greatly contributes to reduction of these gases. Biogas, which forms in this way, has similar properties as natural gas, so it can be used for the same purposes (production of electricity, heat, ...). The outlet substrate, on the other side, can be used as an excellent fertilizer. On the basis of the obtained data from scientific and technical literature, we estimate that the biogas production system would be the most suitable for the farm. For the implementation of BGP, we contacted OMEGA AIR d.o.o., with their help we found out, that we could produce about 50 MW of electricity at the annual level. Because the maximal working capacity would be 5,9 kW, it would rank among micro biogas plants. The output digestate could be used as a fertilizer on the farm's farmland.
