Abstract

Title:Peristaltic simulator with improved performance
Abstract:
For the purpose of carrying out in-vitro drug release testing, we have developed a new peristaltic simulator with two tilt platforms and four peristaltic tubes. This thesis covers the design of the new simulator, an analysis of the machine’s motion dynamics and the selection of appropriate mechatronic components. As part of the thesis, a test version of the simulator was developed, which was used to carry out an experimentation-based optimization of motor driver settings as well as a visual analysis of fluid movement within the test tubes. The software controlling the simulator has been improved so that synchronisation issues no longer arise while the machine is operating and there is no more accumulation of position errors. The new simulator allows simultaneous testing in four tubes and can be run at periods that are twice shorter than in previously developed device of this type, while functioning at maximum amplitudes of tilting movement.
