Although we live in the world which is surrounded by digital technology, some documents still need to be archived in a physical form. Nowadays, the companies attach great importance to the product design and appearance of document storage folders which can, along with their primary function, be also used also for promotional purposes. The folders can be made of different materials, but their function remains to be the preservation and permanent storage of documents.
The aim of the diploma thesis was to design and develop the document storage folders for the Robikum d.o.o. company.
The theoretical part of the thesis presents all the different types of materials which can be used in the production of folders. Prior to the product design, the market review of document storage folders was performed. The first section of the thesis includes also a short presentation of the mission and vision of Robikum d.o.o. company.
In the empirical part of the thesis, specific stages of folder production are presented, from the initial design to the final product. The necessary machine adjustment and setting are also described along with some technical problems encountered in the process of folder production.
The main aim of the thesis was to design and to produce new, customised folders which would differ from those currently available in the market. A special challenge was the choice of materials with mechanical resistant and aesthetic properties. The folders possess a built-in closing mechanism, which provides additional value to the graphic product.
Two different document storage folders were developed and produced for the afore mentioned company for storing and achieving the documents which exhibit also high aesthetic standards and can be used for promotion purposes.
