The purpose of the master's thesis is to present and analyze factors, that have led kiteboarding from deadly dangerous activity to user friendly sport. Through interviews with first two kiters in Slovenia, we described worldwide and Slovenian history of kiteboarding. Then we constructed and executed research survey on 100 active kiteboarders from Slovenia. Through research survey we received a safety assessment of kiteboarding gear and learning directly from individuals. Our data was produced and analyzed with web tool 1KA and programs Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS. For data analyze, we performed Chi-Square test for independence. The results were presented using charts and tables. By analyzing all the data, we found that the enhancement of the safety of kiteboarding was not influenced only by the development of equipment, but also by the process of learning. Overall, learning did not decrease in time, only learning content has increased. The fact that kiteboarding became safer was caused by equipment and safety system changes and by smart use of this systems.
