The degree thesis presents the educator’s room in the resident group of the Youth Care Centre Malči Belič Ljubljana from the perspective of the analysis of working conditions necessary for optimal expert work of the educators from the previously mentioned area.
The theoretical part of the thesis initially introduces the key areas of the research. Youth Care Centre Malči Belič Ljubljana is presented at the beginning together with its newly established resident group, the description of the educators’ tasks follows, emotional and behavioural difficulties of children and youth are presented as well as the centre’s overall educational programme. Finally, the concept of space in the connection with human sensory perception is described.
Qualitative methodology is used in the empirical part. Via a semi-structured interview with four educators of the centre’s resident group an analysis of their perception of the educator’s room is given from the point of view of a place which co-creates feelings and directs the users’ activities.
The research results prove that the users perceive the educator’s room in different ways. The thesis concludes with the guidelines for designing a room as a stimulative working environment which eventually fulfils the work needs of both, the educator and the young individual.
