Stress is a part of human life ever since. It is not gender, race or age, and it is experienced by everyone in all age groups. For many, stress has become self-evident and unaware of its consequences, and precisely because of this, it needs to be recognized timely in order to prevent its impact on our physical and mental health. An organization that takes care of its employees must systematically plan and implement organizational measures to prevent or reduce stress related to work place.
In the thesis, I theoretically defined the concept and types of stress, the causes of its formation, and the consequences and cure of stress at the level of the individual, organization and society. I also conducted a study on stress at the workplace at Telekom Slovenia. I was interested in what type of stress prevails among employees and what impact this has on the company.
Based on the questionnaire, I analyzed the presence of stress on a common sample and compared the results with respect to gender, age and level of education. I have found that most of the employees are exposed to stress at work, mainly due to time pressure, increased workload and fear of loss of employment.
