Striving for faster, safer vehicles with better ride comfort has begun with the emergence of first vehicles. Here suspension plays a vital part. Trough conservation of energy in elastic elements and dissipation of energy in damping elements vehicle suspension isolates the chassis from road disturbance. Trough manipulation of passive suspensions characteristics we learned how they effect vehicle response to road condition. With knowledge of these effects we determined the principle behind semi-active suspension control. Our goal is better ride comfort and safety. By comparing the responses of passive and semi-active models we concluded that magneto-reological dampers are an effective, low energy and easily controlled solution for better ride comfort and safety.
