The purpose of this study was to compare the game model of the FC Bayern München's attack-related aspects in the Champions League and the German league – Bundesliga and to identify the main differences.
We analyzed eight football matches in the Champions League and eight in the German Bundesliga. The characteristics of attack-related performance of each game were entered in the prepared tables. Afterwards, the collected data was statistically analyzed.
We formulated 10 hypothesis. Later, we determined that 5 were accepted and 5 were rejected.
Considering the results, the conclusions were:
- FC Bayern München football players are a team of tactically and technically highly qualified individuals, which are during a game capable of adapting the game style, attacking strategy and prepare solutions for all of the opponent's defense;
- FC Bayern München has ball in their possession more than the opposing team;
- Players of FC Bayern München won less aerials in the Champions League than in the Bundesliga;
- In both competitions, there is about the same number of shots on the opponent's goal, kicks at the goal in the penalty area, goals from break and number of corners;
- Players of FC Bayern München hit on the goal after open-play more often in the Bundesliga than in the Champions League;
- There is a big difference in the number of hots between the defenders and the attackers;
- Arien Robben has a big influence on the final result.
