This paper presents the optical fiber probes, which can measure the transmitter photons, which are reflected from irradiated surface or irradiated chemical compounds. The probes are an extension of the optical fiber and is situaded at the end of the single fiber.
The introduction present fluorimety, through which we collect quantitative values of fluorescent compouns in chemstry, biomedical or clinical research. Some of the compounds have the properties of fluorescence, which can be used to measure the concentration of the substance with fluorescent properties. This method is called fluorimety.
Followed by review of the single optical fiber, which represents the primary source of transmission of the excitation light and transfer the reflected light from the compound, overview and description of transmission between optical fibers. Chapter five describes the optical probes, which use a single optical fiber. This fiber is used for transmitting of light, by which we excited chemical compound and as the receiving fiber, which accept the reflected photons from chemical compound. It is useful especially when the expected ratio of signal – noise is increased and smaller surfaces are measured. Another type of optical probes used in the measurement are multy – core optical probes. Main difference between them and a single core probes is to use two optical fibers. One fiber is used to transmit the excit light other fiber is used to receiving reflected light from the irradiated surface. Collecting efficiency of multy – core optical probes is reduced in comparison with single core probes as is the collection of data depending ob the overlaping areas of the transmitting and receiving light. The third option is to use fiber optic bundels where several optical fibers are used for excitation and reception.
Chapter six describes the measurements, block scheme of elements and the interpretation of measurements. In conclusion summarizing the main results of theoretical and practical work that have been achieved during the work.
