Abstract
V teoretičnem delu so s pomočjo različnih literaturnih virov opredeljene osnovne lastnosti uspešnega sistema signalizacije in vloga piktogramov, tipografije in barv pri posameznih primerih signalizacije.

Title:Designing a signage system
Abstract:
Signage system covers the wide field of visual communications, and also expands to to the field of architecture and industrial design. However, because of the nature of this thesis, we stayed in the field of graphic design, namely wayfinding. Since Odprta kuhna does not have an existing signage system, the main goal of the thesis was to create one to which would facilitate the orientation for visitors of the event. The goal is to help visitors make easier and faster decisions which would contribute to the popularity and success of the brand Odprta kuhna. In the theoretic part, we defined the basic characteristics of a successful signage system and explored the role of pictograms, typography and color in cases studies of signage systems with the help of different literary sources. We have also pointed out the main characteristics of a functional signage system. Alongside graphic elements, we explored the field of map design, which also plays a significant role in signage systems. In the practical part, we applied the explored principles to the specific case of the food market Odprta kuhna. We designed three sets of pictograms, based on the information we want to communicate to the target public. We defined the optimal signage positions and the manner in which they will match the existing signs. While designing the graphic elements, we took into consideration the existing corporate identitiy of the brand Odprta kuhna. In the final stage we managed to design a proposition for a signage system that would positively impact the tourism in Ljubljana.
