Abstract

Title:Succession Law and European Union
Abstract:
Since the entry of Republic of Slovenia in the European Union the Slovenian law changed significantly. One of the last provisions of the European Union that effects cross-border succession is the Regulation (EU) No 650/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and acceptance and enforcement of authentic instruments in matters of succession and on the creation of a European Certificate of Succession. The presentation of the Regulation on international succession solutions helps one to see on what evolution level European Union is at the moment and whether the mutual trust between member states really exists. The most innovative adopted solution is the European certificate of succession, the meaning of which will be seen in the future. The intentions of the Regulation on international succession are noble because its goal is to improve the life of European citizens but reaching it depends on member states.
