This thesis presents the design of optical sensor whose main function is program-
mability.
The purpose of this thesis was to test the functionality and usability of such sensor
in gaming industry, where we could replace electromechanical limit switches in
existing roulettes and slot machines manufactured by Gold Club d.o.o.
The thesis is divided into seven chapters. In the first chapter we describe the
esential operation of electromechanical limit switches, their weaknesses and their
use in gaming devices. In this chapter we also describe operation of various types
of optical sensors and requirements, which the design of programmable optical
sensor must met.
In the main part of the thesis, we describe used electronic components, sensor
programming process and his software, with use of flowchart.
On the basis of detection zone tests, we determined that the presented design of
programmable sensor is suitable for its purpose.
In the introduced design of the programmable optical sensor is some room for
improvemen, which would allow us to connect more sensors in common control
system.
