Abstract

Title:Inspection of dimensions of large welded objects
Abstract:
The thesis describes a method for inspection of geometry of a hydro aggregate suction pipe knee which is produced by welding thick metal plates within the 3-meter size category. The thesis presents the measurement procedure, data processing and comparison with the CAD model. The measurements are performed with two laser measuring systems, the Leica AT401 and Dimetix fls-c10 that operate according to the time of flight method. Our findings suggest that the measurements performed with laser measuring Leica AT401 did not capture all surface details. The reason is the manner in which the measuring with retroreflectors is performed. The measurer acquires a small number of points, through which the surface is generated. In contrast, when measuring with the laser measuring system Dimetix fls-c10, the measurer sets an arbitrary measurement density on the measured object and consequently also covers minor deviations. The most accurate estimate of measurement deviations from the CAD model is shown when compared to the point cloud.
