Abstract
Uvod: Hospitalizacija otroka in starša v bolnišnico predstavlja velik stres. Instrumenta, s katerim so bili zbrani podatki, sta anketna vprašalnika. Raziskava je potekala oktobra 2015. Pridobljeni podatki so statistično obdelani s programom SPSS 21.0; v vseh primerih je upoštevana stopnja značilnosti 0,05.

Title:Rights and obligations of nurses and parents in case of hospitalized child : case study
Abstract:
Introduction: The hospitalization of child and parent represents a stressful process. The awareness and respecting the child’s rights in a hospital environment is important for all medical staff, children and their parents/guardians. The rights are listed in different laws which we have to know and respect. It is also of great importance that we know and respect the principles of EACH. Purpose: We wish to present how the rights of hospitalized children and of their parents (as legal guardians) are determined by law and how they are respected in practice. We want to establish if rights of hospitalized children are respected in compliance with the principles of the EACH Charter in the departments of the Pediatric clinic in Ljubljana. Methods: A descriptive method was used; findings about the topic were acquired from different data bases. In the empiric part a descriptive qualitative research method was used. The applied strategy is a cross-sectional study. The chosen test population are parents of hospitalized children and nurses of the Pediatrics clinic in Ljubljana. The data was acquired with the use of two surveys; the research was performed in October 2015. The acquired data was processed with SPSS 21.0; in all cases the characterization rate considered is 0,05. When checking the hypotheses, a confidence interval (p < 0,05) was used. Results: Our findings show that not all of the principles listed in the EACH are respected in Slovenian health care and social care legislation. Nurses and parents know the rights of hospitalized children well. Nurses would like to have a protocol defining their work with hospitalized children and their parents that are hospitalized with them. Discussion and conclusion: Our results and the results found in the literature show that the knowledge and respecting the child’s rights by the parents and nurses at the Paediatrics clinic in Ljubljana is improving daily. The wished end result is professionally performed work with the compassion for the ill children and their parents, and a good and effective cooperation between nurses, children and their parents.
