Abstract
Te storitve postajajo v zadnjem času vse bolj priljubljene, ker uporabniku omogočajo ogled video vsebin prek odprtega interneta kjerkoli in kadarkoli, brez nadzora internetnega ponudnika nad distribucijo vsebine.

Title:Systems and business models for over-the-top television
Abstract:
Fast-growing convergence of the Internet and television, known as over-the-top TV (OTT TV) has encouraged the revolution in the broadcasting industry and has a high potential to transform the global market in every respect, for established broadcasting companies as well as those who are just tapping into the market in this exciting and dynamic environment. In this thesis, we introduce the technology for entertainment services in real time through non-regulated networks (over-the-top OTT). Recently, OTT services have been gaining in popularity because they allow the user to view video content over the open Internet anywhere, anytime. In the first part we look at the technical characteristics of the technology, the operation of OTT services and certain cases of network architecture, etc. In the second part of the thesis we focus on the business environment and the global market, we define different business models and describe the new competitive environment forming around the OTT technology. We examine some of the possible scenarios that may occur as a result of competitive trends, which are now present in the market. In conclusion, we review the presence of these technologies on the Slovenian market compared to global trends, and conduct a survey to establish how users can implement a stronger influence to change the traditional industrial thinking and approaches to design a new and very different world of television, full of opportunities and challenges.
