Introduction: Treatment with kinesiology tapes is a new and non-invasive method of treatment, in which elastic tapes are being stuck to the body in a particular way and effect the skin, muscles, veins, joints and consequently influence previously mentioned structures. Purpose: Present the effectiveness of use of elastic therapeutic tapes in patients with musculoskeletal disorders and healthy subjects. Methods: In writing the thesis the descriptive method was used, overviewing the literature relative to the topic. The data collection method was based on reviewing of books and Internet resources. The book resources were found through the Cobiss system, the Internet resources with the help of the Internet browser Google and Internet databases through Google Scholar, Springer Link and Medline. Inclusion criteria: research that was conducted through years 2010 – 2015, with subjects’ age between 12 and 53, that were published either in English or Slovenian language. Exclusion criteria: Research older than 5 years. Older research was used exclusively for already well established and proven theoretical basis. Results: The therapeutic techniques of bandaging are compared by different researchers that note their operating principles and effects on the human body in case of different injuries. Total number of research articles used in the study is 32. Number of research articles defending the use of kinesiology tapes is 11, while the number of those not defending the use is 19. 2 of the articles did not have a specifically defined conclusion. In the musculoskeletal category, 4 research articles do not defend the use of kinesiology tapes while 10 research articles do. In the category of healthy subjects there are 7 research articles that do not defend the use of kinesiology tapes, while only 1 does. 2 of the articles did not have a specifically defined conclusion. In the category of systematic checking, 8 research articles were reviewed. None of the 8 defend the use of kinesiology tapes. Discussion and conclusion: more research and studies should be conducted to either confirm or refute the positive effects of kinesiology taping.
