The importance of health among people is becoming increasingly important topic on the
basis of the latter to develop voluntary health insurance, which allow the impact on the
wider choice of different insurance products.
The main purpose of the master thesis is to study the role and importance of the
voluntary health insurance in the Republic of Slovenia, Germany and in the UK. By
research in this thesis I wanted to determine whether the system of voluntary health
insurance in Slovenia is comparable with the system of some other EU countries. I used
combined methodological approach in which I use comparative method and method of
compilations.
Important conclusions are that the Slovenian health insurance system is comparable to
other EU countries, particularly to France health insurance system. Health expenditure
varies between countries, as it depends on the number of inhabitants, especcialy the
number of elderly population in each country. According to the collected data, the health
system reform is inevitable. It is very important to ensure financial accessibility to the
strategic provision, which will be defined through a portfolio of health services. Among
the major challenges of the reform the abolition of the supplementary health insurance
scheme concessions can be observed, where ZZZS will lose a role in determining the
rights.
The data collected will benefit us particularly in the area of cost reduction in the
compulsory health insurance, to which can also significantly affect the insurance
company. Costs are increasing every year, which also indicates that the increasing
number of older people are a burden on the system of compulsory health insurance.
