Abstract
Fiber To The Home - FTTH), vlakno do distribucijske točke v stavbi (angl. Fiber To The distribution point-Building - FTTdp-Building), vlakno do distribucijske točke v uličnem kabinetu (angl. Fiber To The distribution point-Street - FTTdp-Street), vlakno do oddaljenega vozlišča (angl. Fiber To The Remote Node – FTTRN), vlakno do omarice (angl. Fiber To The Curb – FTTC), VDSL tehnologija na osnovi bakrenih vodnikov (angl. Central Office-Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line - CO-VDSL).

Title:Next generation wired broadband access networks
Abstract:
Development of informational society is based on general usage of ICT and world wide web on all areas of social life. Electronic communications and services requires effective infrastructure. Commercial and general development in modern digital society is directly connected with high quality broadband infrastructure development which is needed to access internet as whole. Easy accessible broadband infrastructure provides steady general development, connects every individual in modern social trends and reduces digital divide between urban and rural area. This batchelar thesis estimates assesses the cost implications fort he rollout of fixed access netowrks capable of providing citizens with downstream broadband coapacities of 30 Mbit/s or 100 Mbit/s, which have been defined in the European Digital Agenda as target that should be met by 2020. A cost model was employed to determine the cos tof a home passed and the cos tof a home connected for various fibre and copper based networks in rural areas. For all geotypes analysed, the following order of costs was identified: FTTH, FTTdp-Building, FTTdp-Street, FTTRN, FTTC and CO-VDSL. Second part of thesis describes benefits of broadband networks for society and economy. We can separate them on direct, indirect and induced benefits. First it contributes with higher access speed, adds direct economic activity during the rollout; second affects development of new services for video surveillance, sensor networks, traffic management systems, and others. Induced benefits of broadband also influences other areas, not just ICT. We can expect services like could computing, e-education, e-goverment, work from home, and others. We can also expect higher employment, new business establishments, lower business costs, and other savings for companies with usage of automated systems.
