Master thesis, titled Teaching units of measurement in relation to different professions in 5th grade is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. In theoretical part units of measurement are presented, how to teach them and project work. In empirical part teaching approach of units of measurement in 5th grade is presented. In order to evaluate project work, evaluation test is presented. It was carried out on non-random sample of 21 students of 5th grade. With first test the prior knowledge before the project work was evaluated. With questionnaires it was defined into which professions students were interested. Based on these findings the tasks at stops was determined, as they were linked to a specific profession at each stop. The tasks were designed in such a way that the students learned units of measurement (length, mass, time, area and money). The students discussed and helped each other during the project. They were very motivated for work. After that the project work was evaluated. With second test the increase in knowledge of units of measurement was evaluated. The students were more successful with second test. From questionnaires it was evident that teaching units of measurement through project work is more successful, as it is easier to understand and makes more sense to students. To the majority of the students the project work seemed interesting and they think that projects like the one presented, should be carried out more often and also at other subjects. Moreover the investigation revealed that girls are more motivated in project work than boys are.
