The diploma thesis describes a learning model for controlling stepper motor with the Siemens Simatic S7-1200 programmable logic controller (PLC).
It describes two methods of stepper motor control. In the first method, the program is written in a way that we use timers to obtain rectangular pulses at controller outputs. The second method uses the »Motion Control« tab, which was developed by Siemens in order to control stepper motors.
Motor control is carried out by L297 stepper motor controller with the corresponding power component L298N. Since the motor controller needs 5V at the input and the voltage of digital outputs is 24 V, adapting circuit with optical couplers was built. In addition to optical couplers, the printed circuit board includes the operating field which has three switches and three buttons for selecting the mode of motor operation.
