In the graduation thesis, the importance, relations, and influences of light and colours on theme of painting landscape are presented. Although the phenomena of light and colours are inseparably related, from the perspective of scientific knowledge they are primarily discussed separately by science fields (physics, physiology, psychology, and art theory). I dedicated to those facts, which are important for formation and explanation of my works. Although my paintings are imaginary and abstract, I try to explain the basic principle for their formation in the case of real landscape. In connection of light and colour with landscape, the basic thesis is that each landscape (potential painting landscape) has its specific light. Light firstly depends on the quality of illumination angle of atmospheric light, which then reflects from elements of landscape to the eye of the observer.
Therefore, in this perspective, the end light that reaches Earth, is “changed” twice. Firstly, in passing through atmosphere, and secondly when it is reflected from the landscape. A result of both processes combined, is a specific light, which is unique in every landscape in a certain moment and in a certain place, since it creates some typical impression about that landscape, which influences our well-being and perception.
