Abstract
Vključene dolgotrajno bolne mladostnike in bolnišnične učitelje smo povprašali o zahtevnosti in zanimivosti zbranih gibalnih aktivnostih ter vplivu gibalnih iger na počutje učencev. Rezultati so pokazali, da so bili dolgotrajno bolni mladostniki in bolnišnični učitelji zadovoljni z izbranimi gibalnimi aktivnostmi.

Title:Physical activities for adolescents in hospital school
Abstract:
Long-term illness is a difficult challenge for any adolescent, particularly when it limits movement to the hospital bed. Adapted physical activities are performed within hospital schools where young patients can master their bodies, form physical activity patterns with respect to their needs and health limitations, and thus achieve physical success. This way, it is easier for them to overcome emotional hardships and develop a positive self-image. The theoretical part of the master’s thesis highlights the importance of physical activities for improving the health condition and the psychophysical well-being of young patients during long-term hospitalisation. Furthermore, it presents the newest research confirming the positive effects of physical activities on the process of recovery. Using Slovenian and foreign literature, a set of adapted physical activities for the hospital bed was prepared. The usefulness of the selected physical activities was tested at a hospital sports day of the Ljubljana Children’s Clinic. The young patients in long-term hospitalisation and their hospital teachers who were involved in the research were asked how difficult and interesting the physical activities were and how they affected the well-being of the patients. The results show that the young long-term patients and hospital teachers were happy with the selected physical activities. They agree that physical activity has a positive impact on the well-being and the health condition of young long-term patients. Motivation for physical activities is higher with younger pupils than adolescents. For the latter, it is therefore crucial to plan the adapted physical activities together and to consider the individual’s wishes and needs. Based on the answers obtained in the research, guidelines were prepared for successfully performing physical activities in hospital school. Hospital teachers were educated about the importance of physical activities and encouraged to include them in their work with young patients more often. Thus, an important step forward has been made in the field of sports and physical activities in hospital schools.
