Tilings can be found everywhere in everyday life. They consist of various types of tiles. Tilings, which use only regular polygons as tiles, were well known in the classical era, when they were used as ornaments. As a basis on which to build our thesis upon, we will use the first two chapters of the book Tilings and patterns from authors Grünbaum and Shephard, to introduce us into the world of tilings. In order to make the content easily understandable, we will expand this knowledge by using additional examples, pictures, proofs and solutions to some of the problems in the book.
