The first part of this work contains the definitions of youth literature, prose and the reader of youth literature as well as a review of development of youth literature in Europe and Slovenia. This is followed by the definition of fairy tale and it's models, with an emphasis on the short contemporary fairy tale, the categories of central literary characters according to Marjana Kobe (1999) and the way Milena Mileva Blažić (2013) revises them. It also includes the motives, themes and morphological and structural characteristics of the short contemporary fairy tale and the way they shape the central literary character, according to Marjana Kobe (1999, 2000a, 2000b). It also presents the origins and making of the fairy tale and a research of fairy tales in Slovenia.
The central part of this work includes the presentation of life and work of Svetlana Makarovič and Anja Štefan. The analysis of their literature concentrates on the works Zlata mačja preja (Makarovič, 2014) and Svet je kakor ringaraja (Štefan, 2015), which also presents the basis for research and comparative analysis.
The second part of this work contains an analysis of the central literary characters in Zlata mačja preja (Makarovič, 2014) and Svet je kakor ringaraja (Štefan, 2015), based on the definition made by Marjana Kobe (1999) and Milena Mileva Blažić (2013). It also includes a detailed comparative literary analysis of six fairy tales, chosen from these two literary works. The analysis is based on the previously mentioned theory by Marjana Kobe (1999, 2000a, 2000b).
With our work we want to show the similarities and differences in the fairy tales by Svetlana Makarovič and Anja Štefan, using the analysis of the central literary characters, according to Marjana Kobe (1999) in the works Zlata mačja preja (Makarovič, 2014) and Svet je kakor ringaraja (Štefan, 2015). With the help of the theory by Marjana Kobe, we also want to show the similarities and the differences when it comes to the detailed comparative literary analysis of the six chosen fairy tales from the two literary works.
