The main subjects of the study in the diploma thesis are flat feet and the Achilles tendon angle, as well as the problem of their interconnection. The correlation between different approaches for identifying Achilles tendon angle and approaches for identifying flat feet was also established. Furthermore, the Achilles tendon angle and flat feet were observed in both the right and the left foot and compared afterwards.
The study includes 32 female students of Elementary Education from the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana.
The sample of variables consists of Clark's angle, Čižin's index for flat feet and the three angles of Achilles tendon (α, β and γ).
Then follows the calculation of basic statistics for numerical variables (MIN, MAX, average, standard deviation) and frequencies, as well as the calculation of relative frequencies for nominal variables.
The correlation between variables was established using Pearson's correlation coefficient and chi-square test.
The correlation between flat feet and the Achilles tendon angle was not confirmed.
However, the correlation between chosen methods for identifying flat feet and chosen approaches for identifying the Achilles tendon angle was confirmed.
The results obtained did not confirm that there are no differences between the flatness of the left and the right foot. However, the differences between the angles of Achilles tendon in the left and the right foot were established only in some angles.
