Abstract
Eden izmed najpomembnejših igralcev baseballa v ekipi in v igri je metalec. Njegova naloga je preprosto definirana, a ne lahko izvedljiva. Vreči mora žogo tako, da le ta preleti 18,44 m od metalčevega prostora (hribčka) čez domačo bazo v okviru udarnega območja. Pri tem poskuša z različnimi načini metov zmesti odbijalca, da je le ta ne zadane. Če bi imel metalec v svojem naboru samo en način meta, bi odbijalci kaj hitro ugotovili, kako morajo zamahniti s kijem, da pravilno udarijo žogo in tako dosežejo točke za svojo ekipo. Zaradi tega ima vsak metalec v naboru več različnih metov, ki imajo različne tire leta, različne hitrosti in različno priletijo v udarno območje. Z naborom različnih metov poskuša metalec izločiti odbijalca s čim manj vrženimi žogami. V diplomski nalogi poskušamo določiti in opisati tir leta štirih različnih metov ter izmeriti hitrosti leta žoge. Snemanje leta žoge z več zornih kotov uporabimo za čim bolj natančno določitev tira gibanja žoge skozi prostor. Izmerjeni tir gibanja žoge primerjamo s teoretičnimi izračuni tira žoge za posamezen met. S primerjavo teoretičnih rezultatov iz literature se moje meritve lepo ujemajo. Imena metov so napisana v angleščini, saj ni uradnih prevodov v slovenščino. Tudi ime igre baseball ni poslovenjeno, zato uporabljamo angleški izraz.

Title:Flight of the baseball ball
Abstract:
One of the most important players in baseball is the pitcher. His role is simply defined but not easy to execute. Pitcher must throw the ball in a way to pass 18,44 m from pitcher mound to catcher with diversity of throws to confuse the batter not to hit the ball. If pitcher only had one throw up his sleeve, batters would quickly figure out how to swing to hit the ball and score points for their team. Because of these facts every pitcher has various throws, that have different curves of flight, speeds, and placements in the shock zone. With different throws the pitcher tries to eliminate the batter with the least amount of thrown balls. In this diploma I tried to define and describe the flight paths of four different throws. Also I measured the speed of the flight of the ball. For accurate analysis of the flight of the ball, I filmed the throws from various viewing points and then compared the results with theoretic calculations for each different throw style. The agreement between the theoretical results from literature and my measurements is reasonably good. In the thesis the names of the throws are written in English because there are no official translations into Slovenian language. Also there is no official Slovenian term for baseball so English term is used for the name of the game.
