Theoretical part of the thesis describes my research on beginnings of abstract painting primarily considering Kandinski (1866 - 1944) and what were the reasons for development of abstraction. Further are described two important pioneers of geometrical abstraction suprematist Kazimir Malevič (1878 – 1935) and neoplasticist Piet Mondrian (1872 - 1944) and also a way of modern painting creation of two of most exposed representatives. First is Ad Reinhardt (1913 -1967), who has conceptualized his work in a very analytic way with an idea of the very last possible painting in mind. And second Frank Stella (1936 - ), who is one of new abstract art creators has also been searching for monochromatic, pure painting in absolute harmonic compositions and is one of the beginners of minimalism. Concerning Slovene geometrical abstract painters focus is on paintings by Gustav Gnamuš (1941 - ) and Zdenka Žido (1959 - ), among which I try to find correlations with my work. I described main influences of my work, importance of blue colour, the size of format and painting technique. In my pedagogic research I put interest in level of understanding abstract art in higher classes of primary school.
