The purpose of my thesis is to introduce Bina Štampe Žmavc and her youth opus; youth poetry and youth prose. In the first chapter we defined in detail terms like youth literature, youth poetry and youth prose following the theory of Igor Saksida and Dragica Haramija. The second part of the thesis encompasses biographical presentation of Bina Štampe Žmavc and her bibliography.
Her work is thematically pretty diverse. Predominantly there are motives from children's games, nature and universe, but we also find love theme, basic questions of human existence and absurdity. With the help of her imagination, she takes us with her work on a wonderful journey using smoothly readable poetic language. The work of Bina Štampe Žmavc is full of word games, her poetry is melodic, enriched with rhyme.
Her work carries a strong message and is therefore highly suitable to be dealt with at school. In the empirical part we analyzed the author's work, her youth poetry and youth prose opus after the year 2004. We were also researching the presence of Žmavc's work in literature teaching programme in first grades of Primary School, namely in school curriculum and in the presently used reading texts. In the closing part we defined in detail Žmavc`s collection of poetry named Živa hiša, which was the theme of the explainatory essay at the Cankar competition in the school year 2009/10.
