Abstract
Amforo sem izdelala s pomočjo vretena in nekatere dele dokončala z ročnim oblikovanjem.

Title:The beginnings, development and painting of Greek ceramics
Abstract:
The thesis thematises the history and development of Greek ceramics as well as its typical decoration within different periods of history. Through the process of historical development, Greek pottery was subject to many changes, including major inventions of different shapes and various decoration techniques in pottery. This development was the key for further evolution of general pottery. With the invention of the pottery wheel, in those days powered by foot, this period of time paved the way to pottery as we know it today. Additionally, I am introducing the theme of the relation between potters and painters as well as the woman’s role in Greek pottery. Practical part focuses on creating an amphora, decorated with typical Greek ornaments. I manufactured it on the pottery wheel, and some parts I shaped only by hand. The procedure of producing a vase fascinated me as well as the decoration of it. It includes concentric drawn circles that were typical for the geometric period of Greek pottery. In the pedagogical part I prepared a lesson with a secondary school class regarding a topic of Greek pottery. The plan contains a theoretical and a practical part that includes also an excursion to Prekmurje, a northeast region of Slovenia. There we would become more familiar with the production of hand-thrown pottery and firing of the clay pots in the wood kiln which is the traditional procedure of Greek ceramics manufacturing.
