My final thesis is an analysis of ideas and practical experience, which formed in the process of unfolding various works of art. The underlying questions, which one notices throughout my thesis, are: How does a work of art come to life, what happens with the materials during the modelling process, where will the work of art be displayed and what impact will the environment have on it, and last but not least, what will the interaction between the artist and the public be, where and in what way will the dialog between the two evolve? In other words, I was interested in what happens during the creation, the presentation and the independent life of a work of art. In doing so, I searched for artistic work that was deliberately exposed to either natural, psychological or mechanic processes, which determined its final form. I have also pondered upon my own understandings of life. In doing so, I looked for answers in works of art from 1965 onwards. The artefacts and artists I have chosen are examples of abstract art of both Slovenian and foreign descent.
In the practical part of my final thesis I have then interpreted my own artistic creations. Under the mentorship of Professor Roman Maške I have moulded my clay sculptures by straining, tearing and ravelling, which gave them an interesting shape. The material changed even more while drying and baking. Finally, the artefact which consisted of various abstract elements outgrew the initial composition, since it grew bigger and bigger throughout my working process. And it changed yet again when put on display in different environments.
The pedagogical part with which I end up my thesis includes a lesson plan along with its analysis, as well as photos and interpretations of works of art by 9th year pupils from Križe Primary School.
