Abstract

Title:Microwave motion detector
Abstract:
This work describes the configuration and operation principles of microwave motion detectors available on free-market. Doppler effect based units are most often used in automatic door-opener sensors used in public and business building entrances. The mixer IF output of the detector unit is wired to low-signal amplifier build on a separate motherboard PCB. The amplifier prepares the signal to suitable level for further signal conditioning by analog-to-digital converter which is built in the microcontroller. On the motherboard PCB there is also Arduino-Nano module which already integrates all necessary components for the correct microcontroller operation. Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. The source code for signal reading by A/D, calculations using the Doppler formula and writing on the LCD was developed and built with Arduino IDE using C programming language.
