V diplomski nalogi raziskujem področje geometrijske abstrakcije v slikarstvu ter ob tem začetke in razvoj optične umetnosti skozi različna obdobja v Ameriki in Evropi. Predstavim zgodovinski razvoj abstrakcije na splošno ter jo povezujem z ameriškim slikarstvom in evropskim konstruktivizmom ter z vzporednim razvojem kinetične in optične umetnosti. Predstavim op-art umetnost in s primeri likovnih del opredelim likovne zakonitosti znotraj optičnih variacij – repeticija, gibanje, dinamika in barvno žarenje. Vplive kinetične umetnosti na razvoj op-arta predstavim na primerih različnih umetnikov. Izpostavim pomembnejše tuje in slovenske avtorje na tem področju in njihova dela. V nadaljevanju predstavim lastno raziskovanje področja geometrijske in optične umetnosti ter pojasnim pet izbranih lastnih izdelkov.

Abstract

The thesis is researching the field of geometric abstraction within painting as well as the beginning and development of optical art through different periods of American and European art. I have generally introduced the historical development of abstraction combined with American painting and European Constructivism and with the parallel development of kinetic and optical art. I have introduced the Op art using the examples of art works to explain the art legalities within optical variations such as movement, dynamic and color beaming. The influence of kinetic art in Op art development is explained using examples of different artists. I have introduced some of the important foreign and Slovene authors and the examples of their work. Furthermore I have presented my own research of geometric and optic art and explained five of my own chosen artworks.
