Specialization work describes Shop Floor Control System, which was actually installed in 2014 in automotive production plant of car seat sets JOHNSON CONTROLS d.o.o. Novo mesto. The plant works under strict conditions of lean manufacturing philosophy with minimum amount of stock on all levels. This characteristic request distinctly stable run of Shop Floor Control System in the way of performing its function without mistakes and consequently without process downtimes. In the work, we can find precise description of system purpose and function which will be upgraded in the near future because of the new incoming project. All key phases of system lifetime are described, especially technical specifications, operation and maintenance. Beside complex process environment, all key external devices are presented. This process components together with Shop Floor Control System build multilevel process structure. Communication between control system and planning system is highlighted. This parallel system presents a kind of incoming date source for Shop Floor Control System. Second communication which is described is between Control System and second process level with all key external devices. Traceability records as one of the main system outcome, contains all safety process parameters, build parts identifications and quality checks results.
For better understanding, main system applications and also key system hardware are presented. Some of the attached photos showing actual system, located in the production plant.
During specialization work preparation, I used knowledge from one of the specialization courses which is Informatization and automatization projects (slov. Projekti avtomatizacije in informatizacije) on one side and actual experiences during system installing as plant Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manager on other side.
