Wood as a natural recyclable and renewable is the most commonly used material in interior design, that, fueled by great demand and non-sustainable strategy, applies a lot of pressure in the environment.
In my thesis I looked for the key factors that influence the amount of weight on the environment due to the use of wood in interior design. After investigating the field of ecology that includes the forest as a source of wood, global economy and consumerism, I realised that the latter represents a need for the unnecessary that differs in every way from the beginning of history of human evolution, which is why I included the said segment in my research and thus introduced the development interior furnishing. I ended connecting all the segments into a whole to show the correlations among them. My final chapter is a field of different approaches, global and local to the preservation of the environment, which is also a point where I include a special didactic part that serves as an example of home economics class planning entitled ”Wood in interior design”. The class that's presented here is based on problem didactics and includes all the fields of my thesis. Its goal is to make the pupils aware of their involvment in burdening the environment when using wood for interior furnishing and thus spur them towards a more sustainable conduct.
