In my thesis, I present the grammatical category of dual, some existing researches of different authors of this field and the empirical research among Slovenian kindergarten and primary school children. I conducted this research to find out in which measure our children use dual and which factors influence their use. With respect to the exposed parameters, the results indicate that the school children are more effective in the use of dual than the preschool ones and that the girls were somewhat more successful at these tests as the boys.
