Abstract
Diplomska naloga v prvem delu opisuje projekt OpenWSN in protokolne sklade, ki jih implementira. Podrobno je opisan standard IEEE 802.15.4e, ki definira način delovanja TSCH, na katerem temelji protokolni sklad OpenWSN. Vozlišča omrežja TSCH sledijo vnaprej določenem komunikacijskem urniku, kar jim omogoča vklop radia le v trenutku komunikacije, s čimer zmanjšajo porabo energije. Poleg manjše porabe energije sledenje urniku dopušča višjo podatkovno prepustnost mreže, saj ne prihaja do trkov pri oddajanju paketov. Vozlišća omrežja TSCH oddajajo zaporedne pakete na različnih frekvencah, čemur rečemo preskakovanje kanalov. To omogoča boljšo odpornost komunikacije na slabljenje signala zaradi razširjanja po več poteh in zunanje motnje. Opisani so tudi ostali protokoli sklada OpenWSN, kot so 6TiSCH, ki je odgovoren za konguracijo omrežja v načinu TSCH in izgradnjo komunikacijskega urnika ter protokoli višjih plasti kot so 6LoWPAN, RPL in CoAP. V drugem delu je opisana platforma VESNA in programske funkcije nižje-nivojskih gonilnikov, ki smo jih morali razviti za uspešno implementacijo protokolnega sklada OpenWSN na platformi VESNA. V zadnjem delu sta opisana integracija brezžičnega omrežja v internet s pomočjo aplikacije OpenVisualizer in preizkus s katerim potrdimo, da smo uspešno vzpostavili brezžično senzorsko omrežje in lahko komuniciramo z vozlišči omrežja.

Title:Implementation of OpenWSN protocol stack on VESNA sensor platform
Abstract:
First part of thesis describes OpenWSN project and protocol stack it implements. IEEE 802.15.4e standard and TSCH mode of operation it defines is described in detail. Nodes in TSCH mode follow communication schedule, which enables them to save energy by turning their radios on only, when they have communication scheduled. This also allows higher data throughput since it reduces chances for packet collision. Channel hopping means successive packets are transmitted on different frequencies, which makes communication more robust because it reduces the effects of multi-path fading and external interference. Other protocols of protocol stack are also described such as 6TiSCH, which congures MAC in TSCH mode and establishes communication schedule and protocols of higher layers such as RPL, 6LoWPAN and CoAP. Second part focuses on VESNA hardware platform and program functions of low-level drivers we had to provide to implement protocol stack on VESNA platform. Last part describes how to integrate wireless network into internet using OpenVisualizer application and test with which we confirm successful formation of network and communication with nodes of the network.
