Playing with finger puppets inspire feelings of safety and trust in children, especially in combination with physical contact. These games help a child's development, encourage communication and the development of social relationships. Communication within a family, between parents and the child, and between the childcare worker and the child is crucial for the integrated development of the child in its early developmental stage.
The thesis presents the development of a child in the first age period, the role of a puppet in the child's development and the role of the childcare worker during playtime with the puppet, as well as the puppet as an important component in encouraging the child's communication skills and the development of communication itself. The practical part contains activities – games with simple finger puppets and the analysis of playtime with finger puppets, followed by the final results based on the analysis. The application of finger plays with finger puppets results in a relaxed environment in the group, encourages children verbally and affects the communication between the child and the childcare worker, as well as among the children themselves. The children enjoy participating in these plays, which encourages imagination and creativity.
