Abstract

Title:Car parking assistant system
Abstract:
We live in times of constant change and technological innovations designed to make our lives easier. Automotive industry is no exception when it comes to innovation, especially in the last few years as the companies that are developing alternative ways to power cars get more attention in mass media. The time has come when we as a society can no longer ignore the fact that internal combustion engines are coming towards the end of their lifespan. The big changes such as electric engines in cars are accompanied by small ones that constantly improve our driving experience, by making it either easier or safer for the driver as well as the passengers. Park-assist is definitely one of these systems that are making our driving easier and safer. The cars are getting bigger with every new model and parking space sizes are not keeping up, which makes parking our cars increasingly dificult. Not only are the cars getting bigger, the sheer number of cars in the streets is growing fast. According to Statistical office of the Republic of Slovenia [12] every household in Slovenia owns 1.3 cars. That means every other Slovenian citizen owns a car. This of course opens up far more serious issues than having trouble parking which is why I mentioned alternative ways to power cars in the future. Nevertheless, the technology that helps in these areas is evolving as well. Ultrasonic technology has been around for a few decades now and applications of the sensors have grown beyond park-assist. In combination with laser technology all major car manufacturers are using ultrasonic sensors to produce the next big thing - self-driving cars.
