This thesis describes fixed broadband wireless systems. Also described are systems that have been developed for distributing television programs and systems that are being currently used for bi-directional internet and IP-telephony transmission. The systems that are used in Slovenia are described in more details.
Fixed broadband wireless systems can be very different, depending on the manufacturer and service provider. Because of that, the most common system from which all others originate, is described in the thesis. The systems can use different frequencies and because of that, the thesis describes how different frequencies react in the wireless environment. Systems that operate on various frequency bands are also described. The number of interferences between systems at certain frequencies has grown due to the rapid expansion of fixed wireless broadband systems. Also described in the thesis are the most common interferences and in which frequency bands they occur.
Slovenia is one of the countries that use those systems for bi-directional broadband distribution. Frequency bands that are used for fixed wireless broadband systems and certain rules service providers on Slovenian territory are obliged to follow are also introduced in the thesis.
